Fans cheered for India’s opener, Sourav Ganguly, at the Oval on Sunday as the Indian captain and the team prepared for their second Test match against Pakistan.
He will face Pakistan in the first Test in the UAE on Tuesday.
India had lost in the last Test to Pakistan in Abu Dhabi last month, after a series that was dominated by the fielding of Rahul Dravid.
Ganguly had a good spell in the opening game against Sri Lanka and played a crucial role in India’s win over the hosts.
He scored in the 20th over and also scored three more in the final over.
“He was fantastic.
He was absolutely fantastic,” said Harbhajan Singh, the team’s batsman.
“I am sure he is feeling a lot better.”
India’s batting line-up was changed from the one that won the series in Dubai to a revamped one that had lost the Test series to Pakistan.
They have been without all three bowlers.
The bowlers who missed the last series against Pakistan were not among the players that started for the second Test.
Pakistan’s opener Mohammad Amir, who was dropped in the series, was the only one to play against India in the second test.
Indian batsman Virat Kohli, who had been the starting wicketkeeper, also did not play in the match.
Kohli, however, said he would not be able to do anything but wait for his fitness and the results of his scans.
With Kohli out, Harbhai was the main man of the batting line up and was the player who had played the most overs for the first innings.
On Sunday, Harhbhajans innings was a highlight.
He played three five-wicket spells in the innings, all of which ended in four-wickets.
He finished with a double-century in the seventh over.
The third and fourth innings were equally exciting.
The team was not able to get anything out of either one of them.
In the second innings, Kohli was the first to score, but the other three batsmen managed to get off one each.
